Salvatore Ferragamo x Edgardo Osorio Aquazzura Limited Edition Capsule Shoe Collaboration
Fashion Runway Blog has some very exciting news straight from the brand to share with you! Salvatore Ferragamo and Edgardo Osorio of Aquazzura have teamed up to release a limited edition capsule collaboration of shoes! How amazing is that? Both brands are extremely talented when it comes to designing, so it makes sense!
Edgardo joined Ferragamo 10 years ago at the age of 19, with his first job after college taking him into the world of luxury shoes. He is now back at the fashion house, celebrating its 100 years in Hollywood, and the collaboration is an 11 piece capsule collection inspired by the icons from the Ferragamo archive – reinterpretations of classics such as the rainbow wedge, polka dot and the wing shoe, many of which were worn by Ferragamo’s Hollywood clients including Marilyn Monroe and Mae West. Honouring the legacy of its founder’s creative innovation, his arrival in Hollywood a century ago, and his close ties to the stars of cinema’s Golden Age. Isn’t that co cool?
Combining refined European elegance with modern American sensibility and Latin flair, this new shoe collection consists of shoes developed across five lines. Each model is characterized by signature elements such as bows, lace and wings, and showcases an unexpected mix of materials including patent, suede, nappa, cork, stones, and feathers. As you can see from the design illustrations above, these are all used in beautiful ways, creating really glamorous shoes which I’m sure anyone would love to have gracing their feet! I know I would.
The collection, which is titled “Edgardo Osorio for Salvatore Ferragamo” is the first time the fashion house has collaborated with another designer using their name. Now that’s an honour! The shoes signal a new take on Salvatore Ferragamo’s historical mentoring and investing in emerging craftsmanship and creativity, which started with the founder’s investment in Italy’s world class artisan tradition, continuing today through the company’s Fondazione Ferragamo which sponsors both college and graduate artisans. You can see it in full below and of course you can purchase the new shoes online at Bergdorf Goodman by clicking here. They will be available online in more places and in stores in December, but get an exclusive look now!
“Edgardo’s South American culture and sophisticated design aesthetic encapsulates the Ferragamo lifestyle,” Salvatore Ferragamo Creative Director, Massimiliano Giornetti stated. “This collection is the perfect, modern twist on the true spirit of Salvatore Ferragamo: irony and playfulness, attention to detail, creativity and a touch of eccentricity, combined with the ultimate in comfort and luxury.”
Colombian born Osorio, who was also raised between Miami and London, added “It is an honor to be interpreting Salvatore Ferragamo’s extraordinary design vision for a new generation of women. This collaboration is particularly dear to me as it marks 10 years since I first joined Ferragamo at just 19 years old, my first job in the world of luxury footwear.” I can definitely see where he’s coming from. It must be a great privilege to be asked to do this! You can see both men just below. We would love to know what you think of these shoes as well!
