Burberry unveils their SS16 campaign by Mario Testino on Snapchat
British born luxury brand, Burberry, are always pushing the boundaries. Not only are their runway shows some of the best of fashion month, with the likes of Cara Delevinge, Kate Moss, Jourdan Dunn, Harry Styles, Tinie Tempah and many more to grace the front row, but the fashion house is known for going down the social media route too. Not only do they live stream their entire catwalk show, but they have since taken to Snapchat to capture a behind the scenes look. You may remember seeing Cara Delevingne taking over the Burberry Snapchat (above) during the SS16 show, but it didn’t stop there.
Taking it one step further and doing something no other designer brand has done, Burberry unveiled their brand new Spring Summer 2016 campaign on Snapchat! It was shot by Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate’s favourite photographer and long term Burberry collaborator, Mario Testino, and the best part? It was shot live! So many things could have gone wrong with this series of photos, but it went perfectly thanks to the expertise of the team. I think Burberry’s Snapchat campaign was fun, inventive and definitely unique.
It featured brand new models: Hayett Belarbi McCarthy, Misha Hart, Ruth Bell, May Bell, Eliza Fairbanks, Liam Gardner and Louie Johnson, all showcasing the new Burberry Functionregalia collection. Featuring the iconic Burberry trench coat in lightweight fabrics and prints, adorned with gold and macramé lace, while other key pieces were the duffle coat in a soft satin and a nautical inspired pea coat. You can see the brands classic tassel loafers for the men, along with some embellished sandals for women.
Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s chief creative officer, was of course on hand to oversee and collaborate with Mario on every part of the campaign. You can see a few behind the scenes shots from the SS16 Snapchat campaign which feature Christopher and Mario together, trying to create that perfect shot for the Snapchat viewers. If you missed this series of photos as it was only viewable for 24 hours, don’t worry as Fashion Runway took screen shots of some of the best looks, to share with you here. What did you think of the Burberry SS16 Snapchat campaign?
On a side note, if you love the brand so much and can’t wait for SS16 to be released, there are some amazing Burberry capes and ponchos available right now from the AW15 collection, or why not get your new Burberry scarf monogrammed?
